Remembering 40 Days of Warek I, Unhasy Sends a Prayer Together

Tebuireng.online- Hasyim Asy’ari University (Unhasy) held a 40 -day commemoration of the deceased’s death Drs. KH. Ahmad Faruq Zawawi, M.Ag. The event took place solemnly on Sunday (07/27/2025) in the lobby of the Unhasy Building C. The event began with the reading of Yasin’s letter led by Ali Mahsun, M.Pd., then continued with Tahlil by Muhammad Abror Rosyidin, M.Pd., and ended with a prayer led by Drs. HM Muhsin KS, M.Ag.

In his remarks as well as muhasabah delivered by Prof. Haris Supratno Rector Unhasy, he stressed that in Islamic teachings there are no specific provisions regarding the commemoration of the death day, but this tradition is not included in Bid’ah.

“If anyone calls this heresy, we must first understand the intention behind it. As long as we are here to pray,” he said.

He also reminded that every human being should make a moment like this a reminder of the end of life. While in the world, humans must continue to prepare provisions for the afterlife.

Furthermore, it also tells the dialogue between Sayyidah Aisyah ra and the messenger of God, where he once asked: ‘If heaven and earth have gone, where will humans be?’. The Messenger of Allah (may peace on him) answered: ‘In the field of Mahsya.’

He explained that the place was a moment where all humans did not know each other. In fact, there are three conditions in which humans do not know each other, even though during their lives they have a friendship, even kinship.

“Each of our words and steps is recorded by angels. We do not know, whether our deeds are accepted with the right hand or even left. Life and death are the secret of God. So let’s take advantage of our age as best we can,” he said.

The event was also attended by all lecturers, academics and students. Their presence is a form of respect as well as an expression of loss of the figure of the deceased who during life was known as a civilized, friendly, and highly dedicated person.
